The beginning of the journey...

My brain feels like it is going to explode. Over the last few weeks as we have learned that the baby we are expecting has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) I have not been able to stop thinking about what this means. As I tossed and turned last night, I realized that I needed to have a place to get this all out. Our family blog will remain a place where Kyle and I (ok, mostly me!) will update on our personal growth, achievements, and life updates, but this is a place reserved for matters of the heart (sorry to be so cliche!). My profession as a therapist has given me an interesting twist on how to view my reactions. I recognize the shock, grief, anger, disbelief, confusion, and peace that all seem to tumble together each day are normal and to be expected as part of the adjustment process, but I know how hard it can be to know what to say and how to respond when both Kyle and I are on a continual emotional rollercoaster. My intent tonight is to start a journey... a personal journey...
